Geocities for the lose. Go to Servage?

Posted by & filed under .

Okay so rumour has it….I say rumour, because I left Geocities ages ago. That they are shutting everything down or have or something random like that and people need relatively cheap hosting. And everyone thinks their host is the best. I don’t, but I’m going to recommend it anyways.

Firstly, the reason I don’t like my host as much as perhaps another is that I don’t have shell access. But the average owner of a website doesn’t know how to work in shell anyways, so my opinion doesn’t really matter on that.

So here is what they DO have. And you can click here to find out more if you like to.

Servage Web Host:

#1 : It’s less than 10$ US a month…I think it’s around …6.95$-7.45$…maybe…Sorry, it shows it based on your IP address so I have the Canadian price of 8.10$.
#2 : 750GB of space (lots of space…much better than 50 MB)
#3 : 7500GB of Bandwidth (much transfer…yay. it’s not unlimited but I rarely hit the roof on this one)
#4 : They have excellent speed on their replies for customer service. I have never gone more than 1 hour without getting a response from them. And I’ve been with them for 3-4 years now.
#5 : For bloggers : Instant install of WordPress. It also lets you install forums, carts, etc etc.
#6 : You get a free domain with it…Totally yours…not some lame subdomain.
#7 : Unlimited mail…so if you feel schizo, you can have 100 different email addresses all for your many different names, or your friends emails or your family…endless! Gotta love it.
#8 : It’s a linux host. PHP rules.
#9 : It’s very easy with their webdrive to drag and drop your content onto your host from your computer. You don’t need to hit the upload button in the file manager unless you really want to.
#10 : You have most of the control of your site. You can do anything you want so long as it doesn’t have to be installed in the core areas. Fun, huh?
